This talented young artist was born in Villa de Arriaga, San Luis Potosi, Mexico in 1965. Carlos Cuevas discovered his natural artistic abilities in 1988 and began studying oil painting, with his older brother Joel as his teacher. He specializes in typical Mexican themes such as indigenous portraits, market scenes, still lifes and landscapes.
Carlos has mastered the portrayal of the indigenous people of Mexico. His treatment of their costumes, down to the details of the colorful, yet often frayed fabric, their expressions, which evoke emotions in the viewer, and his tender paintings of Mexico's children make him a favorite of collectors. His special ability to paint his backgrounds in the manner of the old masters set his paintings apart from all the other artists.
Carlos has exhibited his paintings since 1992 in hotels and galleries in San Luis Potosi, San Miguel Allende, Queretaro, Aguascalientes and Puerto Vallarta. He has had a permanent exhibition in Galeria Vallarta since 1999, and is one of our best selling artists, with collectors in many countries of the world. | | |
