About Galeria Vallarta

Galeria Vallarta founders Barbara and Gene Peters adopted Mexico as their home upon retirement in 1978 and dedicated themselves to promoting the fine art and handicrafts created by Mexican artists to the world. Barbara and Gene lived in Puebla, Rincon de Guayabitos and Bucerias before moving to Puerto Vallarta in 1988, where they purchased property and established Galeria Vallarta, just 1/2 block from the main plaza and the famous crowned church, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Since then, Galeria Vallarta has become one of the most popular art galleries in Puerto Vallarta and has grown to six rooms on two floors filled with all forms of art created by Mexico´s famous and emerging artists. The gallery presents a selection of more than 350 original paintings, hundreds of prints, lithographs, sculptures in bronze, wood, ceramic and mixed media, as well as gold and silver jewelry with natural stones such as opals, amethysts, amber, topaz and turquoise.

Art prints are available by Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, David Siquieros, Marc Chagall, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, etc. Canvas prints by most any artist are another specialty of Galeria Vallarta. Wooden masks from Guerrero, contemporary masks from Durango, Huichol Indian art and indigenous handicrafts from all over Mexico make our Puerto Vallarta art gallery a favorite of both locals and tourists, and our website allows you to buy art from Galeria Vallarta via the Internet.

Every piece of art is personally selected by Barbara Peters, who has a long career as a haute couture designer of formal wear and unique jewelry. Barbara is very active in the Vallarta art and cultural scene. She was one of the founders of the Old Town Merchants Association and had the idea for the Old Town Art Walks. She has served on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce, and publishes "About Living Your Dream," an informative monthly Puerto Vallarta email newsletter.

Personal service and attention to quality, packing, shipping and customer satisfaction are top priorities at Galería Vallarta. We invite you to visit our art gallery in Puerto Vallarta, order original art from our website, or contact us for additional photos and information about any of the artists or art works displayed in our galleries.
